Lockdown lifted at Washington school

Police have been called to Freeman High School, in Spokane County, Washington, after shots were fired. The extent of their injuries was unknown.

After an hour, the school tweeted that the lockdown had been lifted.

"Due to a reported shooting near Freeman High School, all southside SPS schools are now in lockdown", the tweet said.

At least six victims are on their way to Sacred Heart Hospital, according to KHQ.

Our sources tell us there are injuries and a suspect is detained.

A Twitter user named Christina posted a photo of children sitting on the floor of a classroom at about 10:30 a.m. with the caption: "At Freeman elementary now". All schools in the area were on lockdown as a precaution.

Nearby schools were on lockdown Wednesday, Spokane Public Schools said on twitter.

"I thought it was weird because they wouldn't do (a drill) two days in a row".

At least four people were said to have been shot.
