Georgia Bulldogs: Final Thoughts and Prediction

If this story sounds familiar, that's because it is.

His first pass falls incomplete. Then comes the sack on third down. The first regular-season meeting between the storied programs was a hard-hitting, penalty filled tug-o-war.

After a 17-yard pass to move Notre Dame to its own 36-yard line, down by one point, Brandon Wimbush dropped back to pass and was hit from behind by Georgia's Davin Bellamy.

Obviously you've made a ton of changes, changed the culture, everything. He took complete ownership for the failures of last season. "We don't do what we do for nine months to lose a game".

And that's how Kelly's press conference ended. But obviously, you lost and at the very end, kind of like previous year, seven of eight losses, how do you.

Litman: "I'm getting to it".

Kelly has been a money-burning home favorite lately, going 3-5 against the spread in his past eight in South Bend, including bad losses to Michigan State, Duke, Stanford and Virginia Tech previous year. "And so I think when you see a stat like that, that's the first thing that jumps to my mind is a group of guys who isn't out there necessarily thinking of X, Y and Z, but I know my assignment and I'm going to go play fast and exhibit the traits, the physicality, the speed, the quickness that is why I'm at where I'm at".

Kelly said his team has tremendous respect for the challenge that Fromm presents to the Irish. Last week was a forgettable return to action for Mack, but I am not ready to give up on the young man just yet.

Reporter. And tonight was also like that, so I was just wondering.

"Well, they're hard to tackle one on one at the second level", Kelly said.

Per usual, both teams' quarterbacks will be a focal point in this one, albeit for different reasons. Given the fact that the coach knew about this on Friday, but held off the announcement until after the Notre Dame game, it does lend some insight into the idea that he felt pretty confident his guys would beat the Fighting Irish.

Notre Dame looked real strong in the opener, but Georgia has the talent and skill position players on offense to make a difference here. They aren't likely to climb back into the rankings with a win in its next game, at Boston College. There was the 31-27 loss to Florida State in 2014.

The Irish are second in all-time college football wins. They settled for a bid to the Fiesta Bowl that season and lost 44-28 to Ohio State.

Against Georgia's defense, Notre Dame managed only 265 total yards. The Georgia Bulldogs ground game is averaging 221 yards per contest, and Nick Chubb leads the way with 96 yards and two touchdowns.

That all is at least the case according to Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart when he spoke this week about the true freshman quarterback who will be making his first career start.

Wimbush, the relative veteran, was making his second collegiate start. He has plenty of weapons to throw to including Equanimeous St. Brown to two catches for 16 yards. The record is 134 yards, set against Georgia Tech in 2001. It struggled on third down too, converting just three of 17 tries. If Notre Dame fails to slow down Chubb and Michel, expect easier passing opportunities for Fromm to open up, ultimately leading to a painful loss followed by questions about the future of this Irish team. Sure enough, Georgia came away with a 20-19 win. He was confident when he said it wouldn't be in "any way shape or form". "We're really close to being the kind of football team that can play with anybody".

"This isn't going to stop us", Adams said. "They are going to learn from this game and they are going to grow from it, and they are going to be better because of it".
