Delhi University Students Union: NSUI leads in 3 seats

High Court lets Delhi University declare results of its presidential elections on Wednesday

With morning colleges recording over 45% voter turnout on Tuesday, the Delhi University Students' Union polls had a better turnout than last year. The voter turnout has increased by nearly 10% since last year. In DUSU 2016 elections, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) secured the post of president, vice president and secretary, while National Students Union of India (NSUI) won the post of joint secretary.

The High Court modified its previous directive on September 8 - telling the university not to count the votes for the presidential post and to keep it sealed - after the varsity moved a plea saying that partial counting of votes was not possible, as the polling was done using electronic voting machines. This year also ABVP is competing hard to win the DUSU Election 2017.

DUSU election 2017 Results: ABVP Candidates Rajat Choudhary has nominated for the posts of president, Parth Rana was nominated for the posts of vice-president, and Mahamedha was nominated for the post of general secretary.

The Delhi University Students Union (Dusu) elections on Tuesday recorded 43 per cent turnout, six per cent more than last year's. After six round of counting the RSS backed ABVP has maintained to lead over the Congress NSUI. The boost for NSUI comes in at a time when the student group was thrown off the contest in a humiliating defeat in Jawaharlal Nehru Students Union (JNUSU) election held on September 8.

The students of colleges affiliated to Delhi University had yesterday voted to elect new president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary of the DUSU.

The voting was conducted with EVMs and the results will be announced tomorrow.
