Coming confirmation from Barcelona, Dembele will miss the Catalans

Barcelona news Ousmane Dembele

Barcelona says Ousmane Dembele successfully underwent surgery to fix a ruptured thigh tendon and is expected to return to action in three and a half months.

Barcelona have been rocked by a long-term injury suffered by Ousmane Dembele.

The Frenchman was making his first La Liga debut for the club following his £97million record move but was forced off early after a hamstring injury.

The club had initially hoped that the France global had only suffered a minor hamstring injury, but tests carried out on Sunday showed that an operation was required.

Barca will also be without him for the remainder of the Champions League group stages, while it is also likely he will miss the first league El Clasico of the season against Real Madrid, which is scheduled for December 23.

Barcelona announce later on that the forward has ruptured tendon in left thigh.

"What's clear is that this is a player who has never had a muscular problem, he doesn't have the experience to recognise the little pains", Valverde said.

According to the Daily Mail, the winger, who is the second most expensive footballer in history, will travel to Finland next week for surgery on the tendon.

The only negative point comeback victory was the injury to Dembele.

Barcelona's main summer signing, £135.5 million purchase Ousmane Dembele, is out for the next four months.

Barca's official Twitter account also started a #couragedembele hashtag.

Then the season proper started and everything began to go right.

At the time Deulofeu was seen as a deputy to back up a front three of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar.
