Cavani claims Neymar fight claims are 'created'

Cavani speaks on 'fight' with Neymar over free-kicks, penalties

The clashes triggered reports in French newspaper L'Equipe that the two have already fallen out since Neymar's world record £200m transfer from Barcelona in the summer, with Cavani unwilling to share penalties responsibilities with any other member of the squad.

L'Équipe reported this morning that Thiago Silva and Marquinhos were forced to separate Edinson Cavani and Neymar in the dressing room on Sunday night before a physical aggression occurred after their on-pitch arguments over who should take set-pieces was made embarrassingly public during their encounter with Lyon.

Hence Cavani's refusal to cede the ball at penalties and his desire to stop Neymar taking the free-kicks.

While he has been brought in to add extra firepower to the PSG ranks, alongside fellow new recruit Kylian Mbappe, their presence has taken some of the shine away from Cavani. After all, they did beat Lyon in a hard-fought game on Sunday and their record remains flawless in the Ligue 1 after six games.

What's certain is that Cavani picked up his bonus last season, scoring 35 goals in 36 games to be top scorer in Ligue 1.

The former Napoli striker himself attempted to downplay the suggestion there had been any major falling out following Sunday's incidents which were strongly condemned by PSG manager Unai Emery.

Cavani, though, has been quick to rubbish such talk, telling Gol de Medianoche de Radio Universal: "These things are created".

"I do not know why all these stories have been created, these are normal things that happen in football".

"He [Neymar] has just arrived and like I said from the off we are keen for him to adapt in the best way possible".

Do you think Neymar and Cavani need to sort their differences out quickly?
