Andy Townsend predicts where Man United will finish this season

We're five games into the new Premier League campaign and so far Manchester City and Manchester United are leading the way, following some brilliant performances.

Manchester United were knocked off top spot by virtue of alphabetical order at the weekend, as they and their City rivals shared an identical record after five matches of 2017/18. They have more obligation than us.

And Townsend is convinced that the Red Devils will be serious contenders for the Premier League title this season.

"Jose will do whatever it takes to win". I think City clearly have an awesome squad, and when they play at their very best, they produce a level of football few can get close to. "But you know when you play for Man United wining is an expectation and an obligation but I like that obligation to be honest".

"I am only happy if the team is winning and doing well".

Manchester United kicked off their Champions League campaign with a thumping 3-0 win over Basel at Old Trafford last week.

Herrera has been a firm fan favourite since his move from Athletic Bilbao and had excellent season previous year in Mourinho's debut campaign playing a major part in United's three trophies.

Herrera has seen just 90 Premier League minutes as a result, but the 28-year-old remains confident that he has a role to play and that he can continue to learn from those around him.

The accounts show wages increased by £31.3m to £263.5m in the previous financial year as Mourinho's appointment was followed by the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan - but in terms of percentage of revenue it broadly remains the same.

United face Liverpool, Tottenham and Chelsea in their next six games, and Darren Bent said that we will find out the true quality of Mourinho's side over that period. "I don't think they've really been tested, apart from Everton at the start of the second half".
