Alicia Vikander Is Lara Croft in the First Tomb Raider Trailer

The film is slated for release March 16, 2018, with Alicia Vikander in the lead role, plus Dominic West, Wallas Goggins and Daniel Wu.

In the film, Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen.

Warner Bros Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures have released the official trailer of the reboot. The new Tomb Raider film will have everything from defying falls to the bow and arrow fisticuffs. This girl has no purposeful goal, and she doesn't want to become the leader of her father's global empire, but she does want to find her own path. After watching the video her father left her regarding what the tomb called "Mother of Death", she embarks on a mission to locate the tomb before the group called Trinity gets there. This takes her to a mysterious island off the coast of Japan, which is home to a legendary tomb, the last place her father was seen alive. Lara will push herself beyond her limits and dive into the unknown.

Directed by Roar Uthaug, this version of Lara Croft in "Tomb Raider" is based on the video game reboot developed by Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix. The game has previously been adapted into two feature films starring Angelina Jolie: 2001's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and 2003's Lara Croft: Tomb Raider-The Cradle of Life.
