Wozniacki Beats Stephens To Reach Sixth Final of 2017

Caroline Wozniacki upset the world number one to reach the last four in Toronto

But after being forced to contest her quarterfinal match earlier in the day, the Romanian never found her rhythm and quickly found herself packing her bags.

In Saturday's other delayed quarter-final, defending champion Simona Halep came through in straight sets against Caroline Garcia.

In doubles play, Ottawa's Gabriela Dabrowski and Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko defeated Germany's Julia Goerges and Ukraine's Olga Savchuk 4-6, 6-2, 10-3.

Halep saved a match point as she broke for 5-1 in the second set but Svitolina was not to be denied in the next game, sealing her passage through to the final as the former fired a forehand into the net.

Sixth-seeded Caroline Wozniacki defeated Sloane Stephens 6-2, 6-3 on Saturday afternoon to reach the final of the Rogers Cup women's tennis tournament. They now face the daunting task of having to play their semi-final later in the day.

Wozniacki, who has the most wins on the WTA Tour this year, is looking for her first tournament title of the year in her sixth final appearance.

The world number two seemed keen to move on, saying, "it's just this match that I will forget it very fast for sure". She did admit "I think at 5-0, I started to feel a little bit better but way too late".

"And physically it was very tough because she gets to lots of balls".

"(Pliskova) had a great year and she's been playing really well. "But, you know, maybe that's also the key why it's been going so well, because I just walked in and I was more relaxed about the whole thing".
