Woman killed in Pak shelling in JK's Mendhar sector

A 45-year-old woman reportedly died in firing by Pakistan at LoC in Mendhar

A 40-year old woman killed in a ceasefire violation today, when the Pakistan Army resorted to shelling on forward villages and Indian posts along the Line of Control in Poonch district, prompting the Indian Army to retaliated strongly and effectively.

The jawan identified as Nb Sub Jagram Singh Tomar was grievously injured and later succumbed to his injuries. He is survived by wife, son and a daughter. Both the jawans were caught under firing on forward posts and shelling mortars along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. On August 8, Sepoy Pawan Singh Sugra (21) was killed in unprovoked Pakistani firing.

In July, the LoC remained hot and witnessed numerous ceasefire violations by the Pakistani troops.

Raqia Bi died after mortar shells fired from across the border exploded near her house at Gohlad Kalran village, an unidentified police officer told PTI.

A lady was killed when Pakistan damaged truce in Jammu and Kashmir's Mendhar part at 5:30 am on Saturday.

The attack which took place yesterday, injured a soldier who was later shifted to the military hospital Drugmulla for treatment. The cross-border firing often leads to the deaths of soldiers and civilians on either side.
