Twins place Sano on DL

The brooms were out at Target Field on Sunday for a Twins sweep. Kennys Vargas is expected to be called up from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding roster move. The Twins also designated left-hander Nik Turley as their 26th player for the doubleheader against in Chicago and summoned right-hander Tim Melville from Rochester so he could start the first game against the White Sox. He's batting.267 with 15 doubles, 28 home runs and 77 RBI in 111 games this season. He is batting.253 with nine home runs in 51 games with Rochester this season, including hitting.394 (13-for-33) with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs in nine games since being optioned August 9. He will be available for both games. He had to leave the game in the seventh inning because of soreness in the shin.

A season high six home-runs helped the Minnesota Twins defeat the visiting Arizona DIamondbacks 10-3 Friday night.

"I really don't know how it is going to proceed", Twins manager Paul said Sunday.

Sano was unsure how long it could take him to recover. Needless to say, that's a big dropoff in production for a Twins team that is already just middle-of-the-pack in most offensive categories, so clearly Minnesota needs Sano back soon if the team is to continue its surprising push towards a playoff spot.

Avisail Garcia had three hits and two RBIs for AL-worst Chicago, which has won three of four.
