Titans offense gets redemption with 34-27 win over Panthers

With this being the second preseason game for both teams, we can expect to see a little more action out of the starters. And while it certainly won't be satisfied with a 34-27 loss to the Titans on Saturday, Carolina should be encouraged by what it saw out of its ball carriers.

On back-to-back drives, Henry and McCaffrey got points on the board with a 17-yard touchdown for each running back.

According to Jourdan Rodrigue of the Charlotte Observer, Newton won't be back on the field for the Panthers' preseason game against the Tennessee Titans on Saturday.

Whether Panthers quarterback Cam Newton plays Saturday in Carolina's preseason game against the Titans will be decided Friday after the quarterback meets with trainers about his shoulder.

The Panthers offense got off to a bad start, as the unit turned the ball over twice and had a three-and-out in its first three possessions. The Titans are projected to be the favorite to coming out of the AFC South this year with third-year quarterback Marcus Mariota at the helm.

Mariota is looking to develop more chemistry with his receivers, but he won't have Eric Decker on the field.

"I can't right now, brother, " Newton told fans wanting a moment of his time Thursday.

Coach Ron Rivera said on Thursday after the second of two joint practices against the Titans in Nashville that he wouldn't make a decision until after the evaluation.

Rookie cornerback Adoree Jackson broke up a Newton pass to the corner of the end zone during that 7-on-7 drill. When he was throwing the ball, he was throwing the ball well, so we're not concerned about that. He played collegiately at Clemson and attended Victory Christian Center High School.
