The first water-resistant BlackBerry phone is coming this October, sans keyboard

New Black Berry BBD100-1 handset gets Bluetooth certified

Although it may seem odd that the company will be making a new all-touchscreen smartphone after the success of the KeyOne, it isn't really all too surprising. The idea behind this is that TCL wants to offer its business consumers a choice between two different devices, hence why the new phone is considered to be a companion of the KeyOne. They continued using QWERTY keyboards, which many people prefer over all-touchscreen phones because of convenience.

Canadian smartphone maker BlackBerry recently launched its flagship smartphone KEYOne in India at Rs 39,990. This isn't much of a surprise, considering that this wouldn't be the first all-touchscreen BB phone.

As pointed by Engadget, it might either be called, "Z10", "Storm", or "Thunder".

Mahieu acknowledged that the company can not survive by shutting its ears to customer demands, adding that the company is keen to offer better choices to customers who prefer touchscreen phones.

In February, TCL promised that it would launch as many as three devices by the end of 2017 but now the company has revealed that its next smartphone will launch in October.

The phone would likely be some sort of successor to the DTEK50 and DTEK60 phones, launched in 2016, both featuring full touchscreens.

The BlackBerry handset will see the daylight in the next two months, and might even boast of water-resistant capabilities.

It's an important time for TCL and BlackBerry. "We're here to stay and we're going to roll out more BlackBerry products in the coming years, starting this year".

As far as the new BlackBerry smartphone is concerned, the Global General Manager of TCL, Francois Mahieu is of the view that it will be able to attract iPhone and Samsung Galaxy users to switch to the upcoming BlackBerry smartphone.
