Staying cool and cloudy heading into Thursday


Sunday looks mostly sunny with a high near 79. Highs will range from the upper 70s to low 80s.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in place until 7:15 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

High pressure takes control as we head into the weekend and that will lead to sunny skies and triple digit tempreatures. There is a slight chance for scattered showers, but most folks will stay dry.

TUESDAY: Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance for showers and thunderstorms. It is milder Tuesday with dry conditions as high pressure builds back across the area. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78.

Overnight temperatures will be mainly in the 50s warming to the low 60s by early next week. Scattered storms possible, especially in the afternoon. Southwest wind 5 to 7 miles per hour becoming calm in the afternoon.

Sunday is looking better now with any showers or t-storms well south and east of the Lehigh Valley. Moisture acts as fuel to development, strengthening what would be weaker rain showers into lightning-producing storms. Partly sunny, with a high near 82.

WEDNESDAY: Partly cloudy and warm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 87.

"Friday's coverage of thunderstorms decreases, but any of them that develop could get heavy quickly (up to 1" of rain possible from any single downpour).
