Ruth Langsford is having nightmares about Strictly Come Dancing

Breaking news The anchor and journalist 42 announced the that she was competing for the glitterball trophy on the upcoming 15th series on Good Morning Britain on Monday

Breakfast TV presenter Charlotte Hawkins has been announced as the latest celebrity to join Strictly Come Dancing. Simon Cowell's new singing show Your Song will air on ITV with Emma Willis hosting!

The news was confirmed on BBC's The One Show and Debbie revealed she's akready had her first dya of rehearsla.

She anchored Sunrise Live at the Olympics and presented coverage of the Diamond Jubilee and Royal Wedding.

Charlotte then said that her previous dance experience is likely to give her an edge over other contestants, revealing: "I did dancing as a child".

Charlotte began her broadcasting career with ITN in 1999 as a newsreader and reporter for LBC Radio.

In a statement, Chizzy said: "When I was 13, I made the finals of a disco dancing competition once but there was this unbelievable girl who exploded onto the stage with a gorgeous sequined costume, throwing glitter everywhere..."

She enthused: "I am so thrilled to be one of the contestants on Strictly this year!".

Charlotte will be the fourth member of the Good Morning Britain team to try her luck on the show, following in the footsteps of Richard, Kate Garraway and Susanna Reid.

Contestants and fans alike have long joked about a curse being attached to the show for couples as many who have strutted their stuff in the ballroom have ended up splitting with their partners after appearing on the series - often to couple up with their professional dance partner. I love this show and have followed it from the beginning, so being able to be a part of it is just a dream come true for me - I still can't believe it!

When asked if she's looking forward to showing off her moves, The X Factor star Alexandra admitted: "I'm a singer not a dancer!"

Joe McFadden, Reverend Richard Coles, Gemma Atkinson, Ruth Langsford, Davood Ghadami have also been confirmed for the new series.
