Roberto Aguayo waived by Buccaneers after bad preseason game

Bucs 2016 2nd Round Pick K Roberto Aguayo Misses Another Extra Point (VIDEO)

The Bucs finally released their mistake in grabbing a kicker so early, but now maybe Aguayo can shake off the pressure of his draft status and thrive on another team. Tampa Bay selected Aguayo with the No. 59 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft out of Florida State. He struggled as a rookie, connecting on only 71 percent of his field goals.

Aguayo, whose 71 percent field goal percentage was the worst in the National Football League as a rookie, likely sealed his fate by missing and extra point and a 47-yard field goal attempt in Friday's preseason loss at Cincinnati.

Roberto Aguayo's rough rookie season convinced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that a kicker competition in 2017 would be a good idea.

Nick Folk, who was signed in the offseason to compete with Aguayo, made his only field-goal attempt Friday night, a 45-yarder.

Aguayo entered the game ahead of Folk on the team's depth chart, but clearly his performance cause the team to make the decision to cut him. Folk made is only field goal attempt in Friday's exhibition opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. Not what you want. "You just have to keep your head up move on to the next day". Not what I wanted. Coach Dirk Koetter said it's something that will "definitely be talked about". Obviously, not up to the standards that I want.

"I keep saying it and I can't say it anymore". You wanted to come out and be flawless. I had a field goal in there but at the end of the day, it wasn't what I wanted. "You're a kicker. You've gotta make your kicks", Koetter said, via ESPN.com.

"When you get bored doing something, 'well there's more I can do".
