Rams acquire receiver Sammy Watkins in a trade for cornerback EJ Gaines

Bills trade Watkins and Darby, acquire Jordan Matthews, EJ Gaines

What's your reaction to the trades made by the Bills?

Sammy was talking about "building a legacy" with Tyrod Taylor just 14 hours ago. Then, Buffalo announced that it acquired Philadelphia Eagles receiver Jordan Matthews and a 2018 third-round draft pick in exchange for cornerback Ronald Darby. In Watkins, who is now fully healthy, new coach Sean McVay gets a proven No. 1 wideout for his offense, but the wideout will need to familiarize himself with quarterback Jared Goff in short order prior to the regular season. He will be reunited in Los Angeles with Robert Woods and likely fill their number one receiver role. The Bills now have two 2018 first-rounders, two 2018 second-rounders and two 2018 third-rounders. The shakeup continues an offseason overhaul under new coach Sean McDermott and GM Brandon Beane.

The Bills' secondary has no doubt gotten worse between the loss of Stephon Gilmore in free agency and Darby now, but at least they have picked up two draft picks for next season.

The 24-year-old Watkins was originally selected by the Bills in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft out of Clemson.

Watkins, the fourth overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, played three seasons in Buffalo - recording 153 catches, 2,459 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns over 37 games.
