Slaven Bilic believes West Ham can start turning around their Premier League form after the confidence boost of a Carabao Cup victory.

Sources close to West Ham have now confirmed that Bilic's position is under review.

Last season he spent the entire 2016/17 campaign with Ligue 1 outfit Saint-√Čtienne.

The Hammers have now lost their first three Premiership matches of this season following their 3-0 thumping at the hands of Newcastle on Saturday.

It was the Scotland worldwide Ritchie, who started the move which led to the first goal for the hosts.

Huddersfield hoped the long-ball to striker Steve Mounie would cause defensive problems for Southampton in the second period, but the Saints' experience showed and they regained control without offering too much threat of their own.

Joselu fired them into a 36th-minute lead and Clark's 82nd-minute header and a third from substitute Mitrovic four minutes from time completed a good afternoon.

Like all fans, Newcastle supporters are guilty at times of going overboard about some of their players, however in Clark's case I think it is maybe the opposite. "I'm not panicking. It's very early".

This season Declan Rice has already made an impact but he is the exception here.

"If we win on Saturday, everyone forgets about the last two games".

The game represents a clash between the clubs now sitting in 17th and 20th place in the division, with Newcastle better off only on goal difference.

Miguel Britos was sent off for a two-footed challenge on Anthony Knockaert after 24 minutes, but Brighton are still chasing a first Premier League goal this season.

Aleksandar Mitrovic says he's definitely STAYING at Newcastle United - as he has "unfinished business" in the Premier League. Disappointing and frustrating the way we played.

"For us, we wanted to make sure we got some points on the board, we were aiming for the win, we wanted to go out there and put on a performance and that is what we did".
