Next Gen Hyundai Verna launched in India: Know price, specifications

Hyundai Motor India today launched its much awaited all new sedan Hyundai Next Gen Verna 2017 in India.

After a year of its global unveiling, now, Hyundai is all set to launch the 2017 Verna Sedan in India.

Korean carmaker Hyundai has launched the all-new Verna which is built upon the K2 platform.

This remarkable vehicle designed by Hyundai was globally launched in China in September, 2016.

However, these prices will be introductory and apply only for the first 20,000 customers. As for pricing, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz S with petrol engine variant has been launched in India with a price tag of Rs. 9.39 lakh, while the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz S with diesel engine variant has been priced at Rs. 11.55 lakh (all prices are mentioned Ex-showroom, Delhi).

The next generation Verna is developed with futuristic design, dynamic performance, super safety and new technology and advanced features, the company said.

Some of the new exterior features in the 2017 Hyundai Verna are projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lights, Projector fog lamps and 16-inch alloy wheels.

The Hyundai Verna 2017is also equipped with the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with the Apple Carplay, Android Auto play and Mirrorlink.

Hyundai expects to sell 4000-5000 units of the new Verna per month, a number which it had achieved earlier between 2011-2013. The new midsize sedan also gets a retuned suspension and steering setup that is meant to significantly improve the handling and ride quality compared to the previous auto. The 1.6-litre petrol engine on latest Verna makes 121 bhp and churns out 151 Nm peak torque.

Some of the other features include Cruise Control, Parking Assist with Reverse Camera, Push Button Start-Stop with Smart Entry and Rear Curtain. The company will have six trims each of the petrol and diesel, in manual as well as automatic guise. The petrol engine of the new Hyundai Verna has a displacement of 1,591cc and gives out a maximum power of 121BHP and peak torque of 151Nm. With the new "S" sporty variant, the mid-size sedan is now available in five trims: Sigma, Delta, Zeta, Alpha and S. The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz S variant is now available in both petrol and diesel engine options.

Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid are the two other known players in the segment offering similar engine specs.
