Sandra Bullock is the latest celebrity to help in the Hurricane Harvey relief effort with a gift of $1 million to the Red Cross.

Leonardo DiCaprio joined a list of celebrities who have pledged donations to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

"We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of Leonardo DiCaprio and his foundation".

The $1 million from DiCaprio's Foundation is the inaugural donation to the fund. "But we know thousands of people have lost everything and now face the daunting challenge of putting their lives and communities back together, and we're using our unique resources and reach to help those in need".

This isn't the first time the Oscar-winner's foundation has stepped in to provide aid for disaster relief, having given donations to the victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2010 quake in Haiti and Hurricane Sandy in 2012. Leonardo is known for his philanthropic ways-he has provided donations to the victims of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2010 Haiti natural disaster, 2012 Hurricane Sandy, and others.

Sandra Bullock - who owns a home in Austin, Texas - also donated $1 million to the victims of the storm. Singer Rita Ora got involved as she was pictured on Wednesday at a donation centre in Dallas, Texas, helping to box up items for victims left homeless by the storm.

"We will continue our commitment to work with national and local organisations to assess needs and provide the additional earmarked funds", she said in a statement. "I will be doing a special "Orion's Rise" show in Boston, and ALL proceeds will go towards Hurricane Harvey relief", she said on Instagram.

Ever since the hurricane hit, it has been downgraded to a tropical depression, still wreaking havoc across Texas.
