A armed member of the Ku Klux Klan shouts at counter protesters

Police have named the 20-year-old man who drove into a crowd of people in Charlottesville, Va., Saturday, killing one and injuring 19 following a white supremacist rally.

Authorities in Virginia said late Saturday that an OH man had been booked into jail on murder and other charges, but did not say whether he was the driver who plowed into a crowd of people protesting a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville.

The 32-year-old female was crossing the road when she was struck by the suspect driver. Altogether 35 people were treated.

A helicopter crash that killed the pilot and a passenger later in the afternoon outside Charlottesville also was linked to the rally by State Police, though officials did not elaborate on how the crash was connected.

Groups of white nationalists descended on Charlottesville to protest the planned removal of a statue of Confederate general Robert E. Lee, and were met by counter-protesters, leading to violence that began Friday night.

Several hundred protesters were marching when the vehicle appeared to deliberately drive into a group of them, The Associated Press reported.
