Employment in professional and business services increased by 6,700.

Government lost 1,100 jobs since July previous year, with the declines coming in state and local government.

The counties with the highest unemployment rates are Imperial County with 24.2 percent of the labor workforce unemployed, Colusa with 11.6 percent and Tulare County with 10.8 percent.
