Indian ODI squad to face Sri Lanka announced

India's Shikhar Dhawan left and Lokesh Rahul cheer each other during the first day's play of their third cricket test match against Sri Lanka in Pallekele Sri Lanka Saturday Aug. 12 2017

Talented Karnataka batsman Manish Pandey is expected to make a comeback into the Indian limited overs squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, which could well be veteran Yuvraj Singh's last chance to revive his floundering global career.

Rahul's last limited-overs game for India was against England in the T20I series in January this year as the Karnataka batsman missed the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy and the subsequent West Indies series due to a shoulder injury. The Mumbai batsman has been named as the vice-captain of the squad. However, Kohli will continue to captain the team, while Ashwin and Jadeja have been dropped from the limited over squad.

Spin duo Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin, and pacers Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav were rested keeping the side's tight schedule in mind.

Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal and Shardul Thakur have also been called upon in the absence of the prime bowlers.

BCCI on Sunday announced One Day International squad and T20 International for India's tour of Sri Lanka. Rohit Sharma is a certainty to again wear the blue jersey, but it's still not known whether the selectors would rest Rahul despite being fully fit. Seamer Shardul Thakur and legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal were drafted into the 15-man squad, which also features the fit-again KL Rahul, an in-form Manish Pandey and Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested for the West Indies series.

The ODI series will commence from Aug 20 at Dambulla.
