Giroud got the victor with an 85th-minute header, and he said afterward that Arsenal never doubted they could come back.

Against a plucky Leicester side at a packed and tense Emirates Stadium, Arsene Wenger's men scored twice in the last 10 minutes - first through substitute Aaron Ramsey before the much-maligned Giroud headed in the victor off Granit Xhaka's corner. Just a few minutes later, he would net the goal that would secure the win for Arsenal to start the season.

The Emirates was absolutely hopping at this stage and there was only ever going to be one outcome, the often maligned, Olivier Giroud, like Ramsey before him, came off the bench and scored the victor to send the stadium into raptures. "We kept going and the spirit of the team was absolutely outstanding", he said. At one stage I opened the door for him because he knew I had many strikers.

Giroud also spoke to reporters, saying he's hoping for a bigger role in the future after coming on as a substitute on Friday: "That's a nice start, but obviously I prefer to be on the pitch".

"I'm happy the goals we conceded we can work on together".

"It is fantastic", Wenger replied when asked about Giroud's willingness to fight for his place. "Top quality game and you want PL to be best in the world and you have to produce games like that", Wenger told reporters.

"So we conceded two goals from corner, we were quite good last season on corners".

"There is no chance he could before the window closes. One was a corner, one on build-up, one on a corner again", he said. We love him and in the end he made a decision to stay.

The subs paid off, with Ramsey scoring in the 83rd minute to make it 3-3 and Giroud heading in off the post two minutes later to win a thrilling encounter for Arsenal.

The overall experience pleased the forward, who admitted that he is still getting used to a new style of game at the Emirates Stadium.

"I think we have all seen the amusing business of the transfer window and we never know what is round the corner".
