Dortmund keep forward Dembele suspended until further notice

Matic backs Lukaku for fruitful season after debut goal

Dembele has reportedly refused all contact with the club since Barcelona made a bid reported to be worth 105 million euros ($124 million) including add-ons.

The German club say that Dembele moving to Barca is "not now likely".

"Borussia Dortmund acted very cleverly and calmly in this situation".

There were even claims that Dembele was travelling to Barcelona to complete his move.

"Borussia Dortmund have chose to suspend Ousmane Dembele from training with the team until further notice", read a statement on the club's official website.

"You should not treat players like gods, if they do not behave like gods".

Hans-Joachim Watzke, Michael Zorc and Peter Bosz were together on the first day of the first round of the 1.

Dortmund have now announced Dembele will be punished for his no-show and will be banned until after this Saturday's DFB-Pokal clash with Rielasingen-Arlen.

Barca have been hoping to convince Dortmund to part with one of their most prized assets following the world record breaking sale of Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain, last week, but have so far come up short with their efforts to land Dembele.

Dortmund are now concentrating on preparing the team for the Bundesliga opening match against Wolfsburg on August 19, according to Zorc.

Barcelona legend Xavi Hernandez has endorsed the potential double signing of Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.

Dortmund had expected to bring in substantial funds for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer but later took him off the market as they said they would not have time to identify a replacement.
