The website has since amended the article and apologised to Podolski. They certainly have gotten a lot wrong along the way too.

The website posted a picture of Podolski, now at Japanese side Vissel Kobe after leaving Turkish giants Galatasaray, on the back of jet ski accompanied with the caption: "SPANISH POLICE CRACK GANG MOVING MIGRANTS ON JET-SKIS". The only connection he has to the Breitbart "article" is the fact that he's on a jetski in the photo. Podolski is actually retired from worldwide football these days.

But before Breitbart takes over the world, it's going to have to be more careful about the images it uses on stories.

Breitbart London was forced to issue an apology to a German soccer star because they ran his picture with a story about migrant smuggling. Breitbart London wishes to apologise to Mr Podolski, ' the editor's note read.

Podolski's image appeared under the headline, "Spanish police crack gang moving migrants on jet-skis".

Right-wing publication Breitbart News has appeared to have made a serious error, seemingly accusing German footballer and World Cup victor Lukas Podolski is involved in human trafficking. We wish Mr. Podolski well in his recently announced worldwide retirement.

In this June 10, 2014 photo released by the German Football federation, DFB, former German national soccer player Lukas Podolski, left, rides on a jet-ski off Santo Andre, Brazil.
