United confirm Morata interest, but…

Chelsea Transfer News

According to the Spanish publication Marca, United tabled a €75m (£66m, $85.1m) bid for Morata.

The Express have picked up on claims from Don Balon, who think that the Blues do not think Morata is worth £80 million, and will hold off on paying that to the La Liga side. "I am nobody to speak about players from Real Madrid", Mourinho told reporters.

"They've identified for a long time that his development at Juventus, his training at Madrid and the fact that he's a consistent trophy victor at a very young age, meant that they thought he was the right player".

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that the Premier League champions are looking at the possibility of signing both Real Madrid star Alvaro Morata and Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer. "And we didn't arrive at an agreement with Real Madrid". Mourinho confirmed United's interest in the striker, but Real's reluctance to come to an "economic agreement" resulted in the deal not going through.

Jose Mourinho has reportedly angered Antonio Conte after beating him to Romelu Lukaku, and the two Premier League rivals could now fight over the next player.

With Chelsea losing out on Lukaku, they have turned their attention in signing Real's Morata.

Mourinho suggested Lukaku's Premier League experience and his personal relationship with the player from their time together at Chelsea were the primary reasons United sought to buy the Belgium worldwide, the club also having been strongly linked with a deal for Antoine Griezmann before Atletico Madrid's transfer ban nixed the Frenchman's exit.
