Lionel Messi wants Ivan Rakitic to stay at Barcelona at any cost

FC Barcelona transfer news

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde remains relaxed amid his team's pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.

Paris Saint-Germain new boy Dani Alves has urged Marco Verratti to snub FC Barcelona and stay with the French giants.

Media reports linked the 24-year-old Verratti, who has a reported price tag of around $80 million, with a move to Spanish Cup champions Barcelona during this transfer window, reports Efe.

With a new manager in Ernesto Valverde on board, the Catalans are looking to come back strong this season and a much-talked about revamp in the squad looks to be happening.

"We've not had any offers for any players in our squad". "For me, the best signings are those who are in my team", Valverde told reporters.

"A player who can play in all three positions would be incredible, because playing in that position means you're always fighting for game time so the more positions you can play in, the more opportunities you'll have".

He added: "It's not our intention to lose players, certainly not good players".

"I have nearly the best squad possible anyway".

Barca president, Josep Maria Bartomeu has already confirmed the club's interest in landing Italy global, Verratti, even stating that the player himself wants to move to Camp Nou. He can play in different areas of the pitch and we know he can play deeper and help construct the play but it is in the final third where he really makes the difference for us'. "The important thing is that Iniesta is happy in the team, then we'll see what the season brings".

"We're not closed to any options until the last day but I think that's the same for any club".
