Leak reveals Xiaomi 5X with Snapdragon 625 SoC, 5.5-inch display

Xiaomi will launch its next generation Redmi lineup of smartphones next month which includes the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Xiaomi Redmi 5, Xiaomi Redmi 5X, Xiaomi Redmi 5A. The smartphone which we previously reported as Xiaomi X1 under the Lanmi brand but after this new report, the first smartphone is going to be Xiaomi 5X.

A new poster has been leaked online, which reveals some key specifications and price of the upcoming smartphone.

As per Weibo listing, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 will have a 5-inch full-HD display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a scratch resistance 2.5D curved glass coating on top of the display. Under the hood, the device would be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. This move, which is unexpected from a "online only" brand, hits at a possibility of a sub brand launch, which could enable to company to deploy more products at various price tiers. The leak showcases some of the useful specifications of the phone as well. When it comes to the internal storage, the phone is expected to have a 64GB capacity. It is also said to have a Dua camera on the rear with a 16MP front facing camera.

In terms of connectivity, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 will support dual-SIM dual standby using the hybrid SIM configuration (Micro-SIM + Nano-SIM/microSD) slot. There is no information on whether there will be an option of expandable memory. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 will come loaded with a 3,680mAh non-removable battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology support for fast-charging. However, the new leak reveals no details about the resolution of the display, but a previous leak claimed that it will most likely end up being 1080p, much like many other mid-range phones from Xiaomi. Earlier, the phone has stated to be powered by a Snapdragon 660 which is now replaced with the 625 chipset. The speculated launch is dated as July 26 but there is no official confirmation from company's side till now.
