Donald Trump Jr. hit send on an email confirming a meeting with a Russian government lawyer with the promise of damaging information on Hilary Clinton.

Asked by reporters on board Air Force One if the president supported his son testifying, President Trump replied, 'I think if he wants to'.

The Republican chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee says he will call on President Donald Trump's son to testify amid investigations into Russian meddling in last year's election - and he says he'll subpoena him if necessary.

Putin told reporters earlier this month that Trump appeared to agree with Moscow's position that it did not interfere in last year's election during their meeting at G20.

"I think any witness who's been asked to testify in Congress should do that", Ryan said. "He told me specifically he was not working for the Russian government, and in fact laughed when I asked him that question".

"He said absolutely not", Trump said.

Futerfas also revealed that another unnamed person, in addition to Trump's team, was present.

"Somebody said that her visa or her passport to come into the country was approved by Attorney General Lynch", Trump said.

The revelation adds a new layer to the meeting, which has drawn the attention of congressional and possibly federal investigators.

As President Trump returns from this morning's Bastille Day parade in France, NBC has learned that a former soviet counter intelligence officer who lobbies for Russian causes was in the room when Donald Trump Junior met with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya. "It was a short meeting, it was a meeting that went very, very quickly; very fast".

But the sources told Yahoo News that Marc Kasowitz, the president's chief lawyer in the Russian Federation investigation, and Alan Garten, executive vice president and chief legal officer of the Trump Organization, were both informed about the emails in the third week of June, after they were discovered by lawyers for Kushner, who is now a senior White House official.

Trump Jr. has found himself engulfed in controversy after releasing emails shared between him and publicist Rob Goldman, who brokered the meeting.

"People said, 'Oh, they shouldn't get along.' Well, who are the people that are saying that?"

The panel is investigating Russian meddling in the USA election.

Veselnitskaya was temporarily allowed into the USA in fall 2015 when an earlier visa request was denied.
