Heat wave continues with some storm chances ahead

FORECAST: Storm chances shrink as heat builds this week

I think if I got to pick, today would be the weather victor of the week.

St. Louis will reach the century mark for multiple days during the second half of the week. An isolated storm may develop before midnight. Like the weekend, storms will be slow movers and could dump a quick inch of rain in a short time. Temps will fall into the lower 70s by Monday morning before rebounding into the mid 90s by Monday afternoon.

High pressure moves into the area and will give us lots of sunshine for the next week or so. That will result in a gradual ramping up of temperatures with each passing day. Not everyone will see the rain today, as it will be hit or miss, but it will keep some clouds around and temperatures back in the low 80s. Those numbers will be higher.

Tonight mostly clear with a small chance of an isolated shower/storm in north-central Kansas otherwise dry with lows in the low 70s with southeast winds around 5 miles per hour.

"An excessive heat watch means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected".
