Amarillo's average gas price rose 4.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.00/g yesterday, according to GasBuddy's daily survey of 147 gas outlets in Amarillo.

Two weeks after falling to the lowest level in 12 years for the Fourth of July holiday, gasoline prices in SC continue to edge up, reflecting the 2-cents per gallon tax increase that took effect July 1 but still posting the lowest prices in the nation.

In South Carolina, motorists will find the lowest gasoline prices in Columbia and Myrtle Beach, where the average cost on Monday stood at $1.93 per gallon, according to AAA.

By contrast, Decatur has the cheapest gas, at a price of $2.12 per gallon.

Most Jacksonville stations were at $2.06 a gallon Monday. This is identical to last week's average. Now that state with the highest gas prices is recorded to be Alaska, followed by California.

GasBuddy also provided historical data about prices on July 17 in the last 5 years in Arkansas. The lowest prices were seen in Tampa, where the average cost of a gallon of gas was running at $2.01. That helped push oil prices higher last week, which puts upward pressure on prices at the pump. "While this could be the start of a gradual uptick in gas prices, drivers are likely to continue saving at the pump compared to what they paid earlier this year".

Fuel prices for the Houston area dipped again, leaving the regional average right at $2.00 per gallon, slightly cheaper seasonally than nearly historically low prices of a year ago. The national average has decreased 5 cents a gallon during the past month and is about 3.5 cents higher than one year ago.
