Bollywood superstars dazzle at India film awards

The event was attended by many film personalities including Salman Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, Sushant Singh Rajput, Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan among others.

Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury walked away with the Best Direction award for "Pink", a hard-hitting drama which put forth the message that when a woman says no, it is a no. Performing artist Taapsee Pannu, who assumed a crucial part in "Pink", named the Woman of the Year.

Bollywood's biggest stars led a triumphant celebration of dance, music and fashion at the International Indian Film Academy Awards last Saturday, cheered on by thousands of ecstatic fans at an American football stadium in New Jersey.

Among the singers, Kanika Kapoor's "Da da dase" and Tulsi Kumar "Soch na sake" shared the award in the female category, while Amit Mishra won it in the men's category.

In the Best Supporting Actor class, Shabana Azmi and Anupam Kher were respected for 'Neerja" and "M.S. Dhoni"; Varun Dhawan also awarded for his comic in "Dishoom"; and Disha Patani awarded with honor for her picture "M.S. Dhoni: "The Untold Story".

Katrina Kaif gave away the award to Shahid at the ceremony in NY, while Varun Dhawan announced Alia as the Best Actor - Female at the event, held at the Metlife Stadium. The actor thanked his loving wife calling her his good luck charm.

Amitabh Bhattacharya won the Best Lyricist award for Channa Mere Ya from Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. It was the culmination of a three-day celebration of Indian cinema and is India's biggest media event and one of the world's most-watched annual entertainment shows, with an audience of almost 800 million people.
