Arsenal boss Wenger attempts to convince star to stay via text

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger remains confident of Alexis Sanchez staying next season.

But Wenger is steadfast in his hope that the 28 year-old will remain at Emirates Stadium.

The Arsenal manager is not entertaining any talk of a summer move and insisted that he expects the player to honour his contract with the hope that he will sign an extension either before the start of the season or during the campaign. There is not a lot to resolve at the moment with the player. "My thoughts are always positive".

Set to return to parent club Arsenal, England worldwide Wilshere - who has been hampered by injuries in recent years - has been linked with a move to Serie A outfit Sampdoria.

Sanchez has previously only hinted that he wants to leave Arsenal, while Arsene Wenger has recently suggested he's growing in confidence over keeping the player at the club.

Sanchez's future has been in the balance since the window opened for business, having been allowed to enter the final 12 months of his contract.

"Usually you need three weeks but they will have a programme and can be involved after one week to ten days, and play a part in games".

Equally, Wenger believes that midfielder Jack Wilshere will stay at Arsenal after the England global spent last season on loan at Bournemouth.

When asked recently if he planned to keep Sanchez, Wenger responded: 'Yes, that is a continuation of what I said at the end of the season.

"But once he is ready, when he comes back, he will not be far from with the team".
