Ant-Man & The Wasp: Randall Park Joins as SHIELD Agent Jimmy Woo

Randall Park Will Help Revive SHIELD In 'Ant-Man And The Wasp' For Marvel

The Fresh Off The Boat star will join the 2018 superhero sequel as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Jimmy Woo.

Aside from announcing Park's casting and his character's name, however, no details are given as to what kind (or how big) of a role Woo will play in the Ant-Man and the Wasp storyline, which is also being kept under wraps.

Additionally, the nigh-ubiquitous David Dastmalchian returns, as will rapper/actor T.I.

"Ant-Man" was one of Marvel's most notoriously troubled productions due to the eleventh-hour resignation of original director/co-writer Edgar Wright (who has recently stated that he never intends to see the film).

Peyton Reed will return to direct Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is written by Transformers: The Last Knight's Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari from a story by Academy Award victor Adam McKay (The Big Short) and star Paul Rudd. The Chinese-American secret agent has been an Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D and leader of the Agents of Atlas.

Park has shared the screen with Rudd before in "We Cane Together", and is also known for his roles in "Fresh Off the Boat" and "Veep". He can now be seen in the Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler comedy The House, which IGN scored an 8.0.

Marvel's Ant-Man and the Wasp is set to release on July 6, 2018. Park will be seen next in James Franco's The Disaster Artist.

In the comics, Jimmy Woo (a lower-tier character dating back decades) is a SHIELD agent - but given SHIELD technically no longer exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it remains to be seen how the character will be utilised. (Dave), while Hannah John-Kamen (Game of Thrones) has been cast in an as-yet-unrevealed role.

Filming is scheduled to begin this month in Atlanta.
