Pokemon Go Will Receive New Multiplayer Features, Gym Closed For Remodeling

Pokemon Go

We've now got official confirmation from Niantic themselves that Pokemon GO gyms are closing today, which means the gym rework is probably almost here too.

While the goal of the gym shutdown remains unknown for now, rumors have emerged stating that Niantic would be tweaking some of the popular augmented reality mobile game's mechanics soon.

The game didn't specify how long the gyms would be closed for, nor did they give any hint as to how the gyms will change when they reopen.

The "Pokemon GO" player base are pretty much aware by now about the news as it was posted on the game's website.

"To kick things off, we will be hosting the Solstice Event starting on June 13, 2017".

A Niantic representative (NianticGeorge) also took it to Reddit to herald the looming gym closure. This in-game event will feature Fire-type and Ice-type Pokemon, huge XP bonuses for throwing Poke Balls accurately, and discounted Lucky Eggs in the in-game shop. Quigley is quoted, saying: "The capture mechanic is fun, but you're a lone wolf, you're going out there on your own".

This temporary shutdown will definitely help the game improve in the future.

Some new features might be coming soon to Pokemon Go later this week.

According to the moderators of The Silph Road, Pokemon GO gyms across the globe would temporarily be disabled sometime on June 19.

The developer has announced earlier today that gyms in Pokémon GO will not be available for the time being.

There is no doubt that Niantic will bring in such a feature.
