One killed, one injured in officer-involved shooter after carjacking, chase

A white sedan allegedly stolen at gunpoint from a man in Littleton sits on a side street in Denver after Littleton and Englewood police shot two female suspects in the robbery. Two men believed to be involved in the carjacking are still on the loose

A woman was killed and another was injured after they were involved in an early Friday morning shootout with police that all started with a carjacking.

The names and other details about the suspects were not immediately released.

The victim called 911 and officers spotted the stolen vehicle shortly thereafter. The names, genders and ages of the suspects have not been released.

Northbound Santa Fe Drive was closed between West Iowa Avenue and West Mississippi Avenue.

Littleton and Englewood police both said none of their officers were hurt.

The alleged carjacking happened in Littleton around midnight, Putnam said.

No police officers were shot, and Archer didn't have information about whether any of their vehicles sustained damage. The Littleton cops followed, and officers from the Englewood Police Department joined in when the chase crossed into their jurisdiction.

The suspect auto crashed near Louisiana Avenue and Bannock Street, Putnam said. Because the scene ended in Denver, the Denver Police Department will lead the investigation. But the vehicle took off, heading north on Santa Fe.

Investigators say sometime after the auto stopped, officers fired their weapons.
