Crystal Palace offer managerial job to Frank de Boer?

Frank De Boer offered the Crystal Palace job

Palace were reportedly keen on appointing Marco Sliva before he elected to join Watford, and have also shown interest in Mauricio Pellegrino, who is now believed to be joining Southampton.

The Dutchman will look to ensure the Eagles do not flirt with relegation as they did last season, with the club 17th in the Premier League when Allardyce came in and guided them to safety.

De Telegraaf add that De Boear has not confirmed that he will take over at Palace but is set to make a quick decision.

That has cleared the way for former Ajax and Inter Milan boss De Boer to take over at Selhurst Park.

Previously, De Boer has been linked with Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Swansea City and Southampton as well as Newcastle.

But one manager that has today (Thursday) made a move is former Schalke boss Markus Weinzierl who has been cut from 25/1 to 14/1 (Sky Bet), although at the time of writing he can still be backed at 20/1 with Paddy Power.

De Boer earned 112 caps.

His last job was a disastrous spell in charge of Inter Milan so a Palace side that belongs in mid-table is probably the best option available right now.

The Amsterdam giants have not won the Dutch title since De Boer departed the club, and while league titles may not be on the horizon at Palace, De Boer is known to be relishing the opportunity to manage in the Premier League.
