Celebrity reaction to the mistrial in Bill Cosby's trial

Cosby jury deliberations, now longer than trial, stretch into Saturday

BLOCK: After the mistrial was declared, Bill Cosby appeared outside the courthouse.

O'Neill and Cosby's lead lawyer, Brian McMonagle, clashed on Friday, with the defense attorney complaining that the jury was essentially getting a replay of the entire trial.

Deliberations in Bill Cosby's sex assault trial are pushing into Father's Day weekend after jurors failed to reach a verdict in the first five days.

As the jurors left for the day yesterday, O'Neill heaped praise on them, thanking them for their dedication and the sacrifice they've made being 300 miles (482 kilometers) from home in the Pittsburgh area. The judge declared he will try to reschedule a new trial within 120 days.

"Our case goes on independently", Dickinson's lawyer, Lisa Bloom, said.

District Attorney Kevin Steele said Constand is "entitled to a verdict", and that while he was disappointed by the result of this trial, he was confident in the strength of their case and reiterated his intention to see justice for sexual assault victims.

Andy Lassner, executive producer of The Ellen Show, wrote " I BELIEVE YOU" to the women accusing Cosby of sexual assault. His lawyer says Cosby and Constand were lovers sharing a consensual sexual encounter.

"Courageous", Steele told me is the word he uses to describe her.

Troiani acknowledged the difficulty of the case, given the passage of time and the impact of the alleged drugging on Constand's ability to recall details. They must come to a unanimous decision to convict or acquit.

Cosby's team immediately went on the attack.

Prosecutors announced Saturday they would prepare to retry the case. "Heinously and exploitively ambitious", she said. "It has been restored".

According to the testimony, Cosby called himself a "sick man" but refused to identify the pills he gave to Constand. He drove Constand to her interview with suburban Philadelphia police in January 2005 and testified that he advised her and her mother to record any conversations with Cosby. Prosecutors suggested he drugged her with something stronger. They may also be able to query jurors about the deliberations in hopes of learning something that may make their arguments more convincing.

The judge said he saw no evidence of coercion or trouble in the deliberating room after the jurors reported their impasse on Thursday and he instructed them to keep trying for a verdict. How do I describe the counsels for the accusers? "It lives here in Montgomery County", before channeling the Rolling Stones and added, "You don't always get what you want, sometimes you get what you need". "So I think it's something that you never will be able to satisfy all minds and all behaviors". The jury, from the Pittsburgh area, has been sequestered for two weeks about 300 miles from home. However, when he emerged from the courtroom he raised his arm in an nearly victory stance.
