Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 'frustrated at lack of contract talks with Arsenal'

The England man was informed that he could expect a quick conclusion regarding his new deal

Having failed to tie down City target Alexis Sanchez and German playmaker Mesut Özil so far this summer, Arsenal fans will be very frustrated if Oxlade-Chamberlain is another who is allowed to leave below his true value or even for free next summer.

The 23-year-old was told that he could expect a quick conclusion regarding his new deal with Arsenal eager to secure their attacker's future.

The England global made 29 Premier League appearances for Arsene Wenger's side last season but only 16 of those came as a starter.

The Telegraph report that Wenger has talked "frequently about the important need to keep Oxlade-Chamberlain", but that the £100,000 a week deal that was expected to be agreed after the end of the season has not surfaced.

Despite making 45 appearances for the Gunners last season in all competitions, it appears the Gunners don't see Oxlade-Chamberlain's contract renewal as a priority this summer.

But with his situation at Arsenal still unresolved, other clubs are hovering.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has been a big admirer since his time in charge of Barcelona and could make a move, while Chelsea are also said to be in the hunt.

It's particularly surprising when you consider his form and influence on the team last season, as that alone would surely be enough to spark Arsenal into action in terms of getting him to agree on a new contract nearly immediately after last season ended. Jack Wilshere and the injured Santi Cazorla are also options.
