Pep Guardiola says his club finish the season with 'two cup finals' in order to qualify for the Champions League

Victory in their final match of the season at Watford on Sunday would guarantee City third place, which in turn would avoid the Champions League qualifying round next term which the team finishing fourth would be required to navigate.

West Brom haven't really got much left to play for, but the importance of tonight's game will certainly not be lost on the City players.

"Our home season was not good but we finished the last three games with good performances", Guardiola told a news conference.

And he says he is proud to have played his part in City's huge transformation - particularly in the way they have been more successful than rivals Manchester United in recent years.

"If you need to go to war in the big games, you know you've got Zabba with you".

Meanwhile Reading edged into the Championship playoff final with a narrow 1-0 home win against Fulham on Tuesday, moving through 2-1 on aggregate. I will enjoy it.

The defender addressed supporters, who stayed behind after full-time, following the game and was given a standing ovation from the remaining crowd.

Manchester City fans might not be best pleased with that "big club" comments.

"I have been struggling to sleep properly because I have been thinking about it".

"I don't think we've shot ourselves in the foot in respect of not trying", said manager Tony Pulis.

"Now we have a training session. I would be pleased if we seal that spot", Zabaleta said.

Manchester City moved back into third place and nearly guaranteed Champions League qualification thanks to a 3-1 home victory against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday at the Etihad Stadium.

'It took so much work over so many years and the future is bright for this football club because the right people are here to carry it on. "When I see his performances I wonder what we could have been with him all season".

Speaking about the fact that he is to end the season without any silverware, Guardiola made a frank admission that had it been the case at the two other clubs he managed, he would have been given the boot.
