Shruti Haasan graces Cannes Film Festival with 'Sangamithra'

Mumbai: The First Look poster of Sundar C's fictional drama "Sanghamitra" starring Shruti Haasan, Jayam Ravi and Arya was unveiled Thursday at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. The film is directed by Sundar C, produced by Thenandal Studios and has AR Rahman as music director.

Thendral Films is producing it. In the first look poster, we can see Shruti Haasan riding a horse with a sword in her hand.

Taran Adarsh has shared the first look of the movie and tweeted alongside, "Shruti Haasan in #Sangamithra [Hindi, Tamil, Telugu]".

The makers have released two posters. To prepare for the role, Shruti, daughter of legendary actor Kamal Hassan has been training in sword fighting in London over the last few weeks. Sabu Cyril will be the art director for this film! The feature film will be split into two parts and is now in pre-production, with principal photography set to commence later this summer.

Rahman is now with the team of "Sanghamitra" at the festival, marking his Cannes debut. Set in the 8th century, the film is all about Princess Sangamithra (Shruti Haasan) and how she saves her kingdom. It was also said that the film is about the Sangamithra, whose beauty is unparalleled, and her journey to save her kingdom. The regular shoot will be commenced from August 2017.

Oscar-winner A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) has also boarded the project as composer.
