Pochettino: "We will keep the players that we want to keep"

Tottenham untouchable as they cruise to victory over Leicester

The England striker's scintillating quartet fired him top of the scorers' chart with 26 goals - two ahead of erstwhile leading scorer Romelu Lukaku - going into the final day of the season.

During that spell, the Lilywhites were held to three successive draws by West Brom, Bournemouth and Leicester in the league - all matches that Kane missed because of injury.

'He is great, he is one of the best strikers in the world.

"I wanted to get one or two goals at least and take it to the final game", Kane told Sky Sports after the hammering.

TOTTENHAM boss Mauricio Pochettino labelled Harry Kane one of the best strikers in the world after he hit four in Spurs' 6-1 rout of Leicester. "Maybe we will sell the players that we want to sell". We have to play Hull away and I will be looking for a couple of goals there. Pochettino was evidently delighted with that statistic and hopes that his side can back up their exciting performances with silverware over the coming seasons as they prepare to move into their new 61,559-seater stadium adjacent to White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur can not compete with their Premier League rivals offering huge wages in the transfer market despite securing a Champions League berth for the upcoming season, manager Mauricio Pochettino has said.

His struggles with injury this season could have quite easily hampered his form, confidence and abilities, but the forward's stomping return to the game after two sizeable lay-offs during the season bears testament to an inner resilience and self-belief - qualities that mark some of the sport's very best.

After missing out on the title last season, Spurs fell apart and ended the season with an embarrassing 5-1 defeat at relegated Newcastle.

Following a 2-0 victory over Manchester City on October 2, the North London side had to wait for another five games for their next league win.

Second place Tottenham travel to 2016 Premier League champions Leicester on Thursday (7.45pm kick-off) as the league campaign nears its conclusion.

Second placed Tottenham's total of 83 points is a tally that would have been enough to win the title on eight previous occasions.

Spurs eventually broke the deadlock after 25 minutes as Heung-Min Son raced into the box and pulled the ball back for Kane, who slotted home from close range.

Spurs were stung by that goal and put Leicester to the sword from then on.

The away side were utterly dominant in the first-half but somehow could not find the target for a second time despite bossing possession and camping in the Foxes' half.

Nigeria's Wilfred Ndidi could do nothing to save Leicester City from getting hammered 6-1 by Tottenham Hotspurs on Thursday night.

Despite replays showing he was marginally offside, Vardy was allowed to sprint onto a through ball, prompting Lloris to rashly race well outside his area in a failed attempt to clear.

Kane's four strikes, which included a double-goal flourish in the last minutes of the one-sided contest, catapulted him past Romelu Lukaku, who for a long time has seemed the likeliest to grab the top marksman award.

Vincent Janssen had a goal disallowed for offside before Kane completed a deserved hat trick when he blasted in from 20 yards (meters) in the 88th.

And Kane had not finished when he scored again in stoppage time, with nearly a carbon copy of his third, beating Schmeichel low to his right. "Because I think this group of players deserve to win something".
