Microsoft's next Surface Pro leaked ahead of May 23 launch

Well, that might be true, but another Surface Pro tablet is still going to be revealed early next week at Microsoft's event held in China. It looks like the upcoming Surface Pro strongly resembles the previously launched Surface Pro 4.

The leaked images suggest that Microsoft is bringing the its Alcantara fabric-covered keyboard to the Surface Pro range, a move that will no doubt divide opinion. Given the fact that it's only a refreshed version of its predecessor, it's a little odd that Microsoft went for the simple Surface Pro moniker instead.

The device will look nearly identical to the Surface Pro 4 that was launched way back in 2015, and won't offer much in the way of upgrades.

Interestingly, Mr. Panay is willing to wait for the arrival of meaningful updates until Microsoft decides to release the next iteration of Surface Pro. The color of the accessories will be similar to the color options the recently launched Surface Laptop arrived in. It is expected to be powered by Intel's latest 7th-gen Kaby Lake processors, coupled with upgraded RAM and internal memory specifications. However, the tablet won't come with this moniker, it will reportedly simply be the Surface Pro, ditching the number. These include the keyboard, the stylus, and the mouse.

Microsoft has not confirmed the launch of the new tablet for this date. Also, Microsoft could make it slimmer and lighter along with a few design tweaks. Also, he added that the current model of Surface Pro is capable of surviving another five years until the company decides to roll out the next iteration of the 2-In-1 device.

The new 2017 Surface Pro will be announced on May 23 in Shanghai, China.
