HTC puts a new squeeze into smartphones with U11

For example, you can set a short squeeze to open the camera and then take a picture when the camera app is open. With it, you can perform actions just by squeezing the sides of the device, and you can customize which app you want to launch with a squeeze. Having said that, let us know what do you think about this smartphone.

HTC U11 is coming with a new feature called Edge Sense. The phone doesn't actually flex when you do this - the metal sides have pressure sensors just below the volume and power keys - but there is an on-screen cue when you're activating the feature.

It is also the only device to house support for the two most prominent smart virtual assistants of the day - Google Assistant and Amazon's Alexa.

There have been multiple leaks regarding the U11, the major one being the "Edge Sense" feature. The HTC U Play and U Ultra are the first set of devices to launch under this new series.

No 3.5mm Jack: The next big thing is HTC has ditched 3.5mm headset jack in U 11 for USB Type-C, which can be used as charging port as well as headphone jack.

In terms of overall design, the new HTC smartphone is pretty sleek with clean metallic backplate, an improvement from the basic design of the outgoing HTC 10, as per report from The Verge. HTC will also include a pair of USB-C earbuds that offer active noise cancellation. The new flagship handset has top hardware and a bunch of interesting tricks that aren't available on other devices.

HTC placed the third generation UltraPixel camera at the U11 back, which features a 12-megapixel sensor with F/1.7 aperture and 1.4-micron pixel size, as well as the new Dual Pixel focusing technology, optical image stabilization, and a dual-LED flash.

The HTC U 11 has a Super LCD 5.5-inch Quad HD display with Gorilla Glass 5 glass.

The U11 comes with not one, but three different intelligent assistants. Furthermore, HTC is going beyond squeezing as the feature also enables Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa. Sprint will begin taking pre-orders for the U11 today ahead of its June 9 launch, and pricing will be $0 down and $29 per month for 24 months, or $696 total. The downside is that T-Mobile customers will have to splurge for the unlocked model, at least for now.

HTC is also touting the camera functionality of the U11.

For the most part, it's just another attractive smartphone from the company.

HTC unveiled on Tuesday its latest flagship device, HTC U11, the successor to last year's HTC 10. Tell us your thoughts down in the comments right away.
