Here's What Happened When We Threw The Best Party In The Galaxy

Express FM's spoiler-free preview of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

For a stand-alone MCU movie that diverges from the over-arching Infinity Stones story unifying the rest of the films, Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 actually ties to the wider franchise in a surprising number of ways. "Guardians of the Galaxy 3" will set up the stage for future Marvel movies especially with "Avengers 4" coming.

"We had discussions about it that", he said. Of course, we knew how hard a task that would be. "For what?' He's going to steal the scene". There are countless sub-plots and call-backs to the first instalment, but it's really just an excuse to get these characters on screen together.

The entire cast is at the top its game here, and nowhere is that more evident than in the interplay between Quill (Chris Pratt) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana). But we may see a "full-fledged" Groot soon.

Still, the film has an underwhelming average score of 66 on MetaCritic.com, 10 points fewer than the original, a sign many critics were rather less charmed the second time around.

Gunn even said he was a little timid on the first film, but not anymore. "And when I saw the movie, I immediately started getting it, and I immediately wanted to do it".

The film launches in United Kingdom cinemas on 28th April - we're flocking to the midnight screening, ourselves! - and sees writer and director James Gunn reunite the intergalactic cast for another galaxy-sized mission of epic proportions.
