Chelsea edge closer to title

Pedro Rodriguez scored an eye-catching long-range goal as Chelsea closed in on the Premier League title by beating Everton 3-0 on Sunday.

Chelsea need three more wins from their last four games to secure the title in Conte's first season in charge.

In more than just one way, Gary Cahill, England's fearless, has stepped up to fill John Terry's legendary boots at Chelsea this season.

"After the game, I must be relaxed when we win but I think it's very good to celebrate this win with the players, staff and fans".

Antonio Conte's side had to work hard to break down Everton's stubborn resistance, but Pedro's majestic second-half goal put Chelsea on course for a fourth win in their last five league games.

Arsenal are sixth, 17 points behind Spurs and in grave danger of missing out on the Champions League for the first time in under-pressure manager Arsene Wenger's 20-year reign. We made some mistakes in possession and that made them really unsafe at times in the first half, but I think we did a good job up until it went 1-0. David Moyes's Sunderland sank into the Championship after losing 1-0 to Bournemouth on Saturday and Middlesbrough are poised to follow them.

"My players showed me great patience to wait for the right moment to hit", Conte said.

Chelsea were more purposeful at the start of the second half and they very almost made the most of that when Victor Moses dragged a good effort narrowly wide of the left-hand post following a well-worked corner.

Yet the defender, who was named in the PFA Premier League team of the year after his outstanding displays this season, appears to have been given the good news the injury won't sideline him.

That "fantastic season" could yet become a repeat of the club's double - Premier League and FA Cup - triumph in 2010 with Conte's team facing Arsenal in the FA Cup final at Wembley on May 27.

"For sure it's a great result for us".

"They also have some hard games at home and away.

Maybe next week, maybe not, but it will not take more than 10 days", said Koeman. There are four games left, three of which will be at home, starting next Monday against Middlesbrough. Koeman will ask Farhad Moshiri and the board to help him emulate sides like Chelsea as we move forward.
