Karan Johar took to his Twitter page to reveal the opening weekend numbers. Top celebrities like Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, Jr NTR and Mahesh Babu have congratulated the Baahubali team and praised SS Rajamouli for his creative direction and taking Indian cinema to a new level.

In the United States, the film was released via Great India Films, who said in a statement that the film has minted $10.49 million (Rs 68 crore).

It's the biggest opening to date, according to The Hollywood Reporter, for Hispanic film label Pantelion Films, which is owned by Lionsgate and Televisa. In Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together, Baahubali 2 made around Rs 42 cr on the first day (with only Nizam contributing Rs 9.5 cr).
