Ageism in Hollywood does not anger me, says Goldie Hawn

Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn

If you're familiar with the comedian's work (her sublime TV show and wry rom-com Trainwreck) you'll be disappointed by this broad action comedy.

The tone lurches between macabre (the accidental murders of two kidnappers by shovel and harpoon gun) and toe-curling humiliation (Schumer being caught red-handed washing her undercarriage over a sink), with scant regard for the finer points of character development or plotting.

"Is it the fear of being emasculated? What I know is that it definitely doesn't slow us down".

There are a lot of amusing, even laugh-out-loud moments in Snatched, the new mother-daughter comedy starring Goldie Hawn, in her first film role in 15 years, and Amy Schumer.

Both are powerfully amusing women, who have held vast audiences in the palm of their hands.

"I used my words", she said. She was still prominent in the 90s with films such as Death Becomes Her and The First Wives Club.

So it's probably a testament to Schumer's popularity and profile that Snatched finished No. 2 at the box office past weekend. It's equal parts comedy and caper.

Both Schumer and Hawn added that they would sleep with a guy on the first date.

Schumer responded a little differently, joking around in her Instagram post.

Goldie Hawn said she remains unfazed by the ageism that exists in Hollywood till date. "I said, 'I don't understand that question because I'm already liberated". I'm not an angry person. "I came out of that going, 'Yeah, I could do it again.'" As for what's left on her bucket list?

"Snatched" is showing at the Sonoma 9 Cinemas.

Between tiresome gags about rape whistles and wearing too much sunscreen, mother and daughter meet another cautious couple: Ruth (Wanda Sykes) and Barb (Joan Cusack).

She said: "I've always been interested in confidence".

Actually, it nearly beggars belief, given that the pair - arguably the funniest women of their respective generations - have in many respects lived the same life. By the way: Hawn's real daughter is the insta-glamorous Kate Hudson. With a vacation to Ecuador planned and no friends or lovers to speak of, Emily turns to her mom (Hawn's Linda) to accompany her.

Schumer and Hawn team up for the comedy Snatched.

"I think it's the way your mum looks at you", says Schumer.

Doesn't she seem so much younger??? My mum just made me feel so amusing and smart and special and lovely, and it wasn't until years later that I found out she was lying.
