Vincent Kompany pleased with Manchester City display despite Chelsea defeat

Rio Ferdinand praised Chelsea boss Antonio Conte

"We created chances but we had problems to score and when that happens after that we suffered".

It was the flawless response to the weekend's shock defeat to Crystal Palace.

It seemed Mauricio Pochettino's Tottenham side had blown any chance of reeling in Chelsea when they trailed Swansea City 1-0 in the 88th minute on Wednesday. In the second half we defended very well, with good balance.

Marco Silva: "Manchester City are a very, very good team with a fantastic manager and players". Pedro was wide, before it was Azpilicueta but they kept closing space in the middle then going out and on the counter-attack with their exceptional players like Pedro, Willian, Costa and Hazard made the difference.

Pep Guardiola is predicting bigger things for Manchester City after admitting his first year in England has taught him "a lesson". Delph was excellent and has maybe been deserving of more minutes than he has had.

According to Conte, the substitution for purely tactical, rather than performance-based.

All in all, I think that Manchester City will win this game but looking at the odds I don't think that this is a good bet to make. "I feel like we're better now so that is a more interesting year for me like a manager to grow and handle this kind of situation".

Liverpool could have stamped our authority on the chase, but foolishly conceded late on against the Cherries, who we'd dominated all game.

"Three points at this stage would be massive".

Conte's men have been in sublime form this season, however Spurs are one of only three teams that can boast about claiming League victories over them.

"(Hazard) is an important player.

Both teams have eight games to play and there is now a seven point gap between them after Conte watched his side fall to a surprise loss against Crystal Palace last week. Only winners write history.

"I am happy for both of them because they deserve to play". Tempers are said to have flared in the tunnel after Wednesday's defeat that left City 14 points off top spot when an insult in Italian was allegedly directed towards the visitors.

"Today the Premier League has gone", Guardiola said.

"We have to look at ourselves and think that it will take 18 points to win the title". These are the most important things in football.

"If you are with Tottenham and win, it's great. That is the way we believe we can win in the future".

With fate in our own hands, the title is ours to lose. Next the leaders go to Bournemouth on Saturday.
