Trump bashes New York Times for Patriots photo 'lie'

Sounds like President Trump was not too happy that his good friend Tom Brady bailed on the New England Patriots' White House visit at the last minute.

The New York Times tweeted out a comparison photo of yesterday's delegation versus the 2015 visit when Obama was in office.

The Super Bowl champs - who play in the AFC East with the New York Jets - joined USA president Donald Trump in calling out the New York Times. It was the team's fifth Super Bowl victory since 1960. On Wednesday, they were seated on the South Lawn.

But just hours before the White House ceremony, B√ľndchen reportedly promoted an anti-Trump protest, the People's Climate March, saying, "On April 29th in Washington- D.C. - March for climate, jobs, and justice". Some players, such as Tom Brady, missed the visit for personal reasons, while others, such as LeGarrette Blount and Chris Long, did so due to their distaste for the president and his policies.

The Times also added a correction to a story about the gathering, writing: "An earlier version of this article included photos comparing the size of the Patriots' gathering at the White House in 2015 and the gathering on Wednesday".

Some players reportedly declined to attend the White House ceremony because they didn't want to be seen with Trump.

Meanwhile, Trump opted to maintain his love/hate relationship with his hometown newspaper - while he loves to describe The New York Times as "failing", he also gives them a steady stream of interviews and scoops. Of course, he stayed home in 2015 as well, so who knows with that guy. Both those visits were when George W. Bush was president.

The New York Times obtained a reaction from a Patriots' rep about the matter of size. James said that one reason substantially fewer players showed up this time as compared to 2015 was that some veteran players did not see the need to go twice in three years.
